For a trip that takes you to an interesting place in the morning, lets you explore it during the day and be home in time for dinner, recall that around Old Tampa, the Tampa of Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders on their way to Cuba, grew up a constellation of small cities with old, quaint downtowns.
