There was music. We don't know the names of the musicians,
nor the names of all the instruments. But we know the
Babylonians trained musicians. Sumeria, Babylonia, Egypt,
Assyria, Chaldea, Persia and Crete, Greece and Rome
all had music. We know how they employed it and how
it was played through deciphering scrolls, tablets and
texts, but the substance of it escapes us. We read that
the ancients were aroused by music as we are, only recall
David's playing on the kinnor which expelled the evil
spirits and made happy King Saul.
